Location: Kent, WA
Worksite: 19657 78th Ave South, Kent, WA 98032
Interview Location: 19801 78th Ave entrance — connected to the same building
Pay: $23.50/hour during training | $25+/hour once converted to permanent
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM or 8:00 AM start | 40 hours/week + overtime as needed

Kelly® is hiring Sit-Down Forklift Operators / Dock Workers for a busy freight operation in Kent, WA. This is a great opportunity for an experienced forklift operator who enjoys hands-on work and is looking for a path to permanent employment.
This is more than a traditional forklift position. You will operate a sit-down forklift, load and unload freight, use RF scanners, read freight manifests, and accurately record shipment information.
Pay & Schedule
- $21.55/hour starting training rate
- $25+/hour once converted to permanent
- Monday–Friday
- 6:00 AM or 8:00 AM start times
- 40 hours per week
- Overtime as needed
- Temp-to-Hire opportunity after approximately 3 months for strong performers
Job Responsibilities
- Operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently
- Load and unload freight directly from the delivery dock
- Move freight throughout the facility using the forklift
- Use RF scanners to scan and track freight
- Read and verify freight billing manifests
- Record product weights, measurements, and shipment information by hand
- Verify quantities and shipment details for accuracy
- Identify and report damaged or discrepant freight
- Follow all safety and material-handling procedures
- Work with the dock and transportation teams to keep freight moving efficiently
- Perform additional physical dock and warehouse duties as needed
Qualifications
- 1–2+ years of sit-down forklift experience preferred
- Previous freight, dock, shipping/receiving, or loading/unloading experience strongly preferred
- Experience using RF scanners
- Ability to read and understand freight manifests
- Good, legible handwriting
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Reliable attendance and dependable work ethic
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on dock position with more physical work than a standard forklift operator role.
You should be comfortable with:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting
- Loading and unloading freight
- Moving and handling freight throughout the shift
- Working around forklifts, dock equipment, and moving freight
- Working in a fast-paced warehouse/freight environment
Dress Code
- Long jeans required
- Steel-toe footwear required
- No sweatpants
Screening & Interview Process
- Background check required
- Drug screen required
- THC is included in the drug screen
- Candidates may be able to start while screening is pending, based on approval
- Selected candidates will complete an in-person interview
- Interview includes a hands-on sit-down forklift test to evaluate operating skills
