Job Title: Associate – Biomanufacturing, Downstream/mRNA
Location: Madison, WI (100% On-Site)
Schedule: Night Shift, 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM (Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday, shift availability varies)
Compensation: $68,000/year ($32.69 per hour) + 15% shift differential + $5,000 sign-on bonus
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Summary
Join a leading biomanufacturing facility specializing in scalable production of innovative biopharmaceutical products. As an Associate focusing on Downstream/mRNA manufacturing, you’ll play a vital role in the production of high-quality drug substances within a GMP-compliant, clean room environment, utilizing advanced technologies and single-use systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out downstream purification activities for mRNA production, including in-vitro transcription (IVT), chromatography, tangential flow filtration (TFF), viral filtration, bulk drug substance filling, and column packing/qualification
- Adhere strictly to detailed instructions, Batch Production Records (BPRs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with cGMP and GDP requirements
- Document all work with precision and integrity
- Proactively identify and escalate deviations, supporting rapid resolution
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement; lead and engage in related initiatives
- Support onboarding and training for junior employees, including possible opportunity to become a Certified Trainer
- Participate in daily shift meetings, cross-shift communication, and collaborate with internal teams and clients as needed
- Maintain rigorous clean room standards and ensure a safe, compliant workspace
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience;
or
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (scientific, engineering, or biomanufacturing discipline) with 1+ year experience;
or
Master’s degree (STEM) (experience preferred, but not required)
- Comfortable following procedures within cGMP/cGXP/FDA regulated environments
- Familiarity using Microsoft Office applications
Preferred:
- Experience with TrackWise, ComplianceWire, JD Edwards, DeltaV, or chromatography software (e.g., Unicorn)
- Clean room and/or GMP manufacturing experience
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, read, and use a computer for extended periods
- Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working in a controlled clean room environment
