Lead Mechanical CAD Designer / CAD DRAFTER (HORSEHEADS, NY)
2D/3D mechanical design, technical drawings, Creo, Windchill, GD&T, and manufacturability work; Drafting process sheets, setup sheets and other documents using Creo and Windchill. 3D modeling using Creo and Windchill. 3D printing and fixture design.
Fully-Benefited Contract to Hire Role.

Summary:
Creates and maintains process sheets, setup sheets, work instructions, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation using Creo and Windchill. Develops 3D models, assemblies, fixtures, and tooling; supports 3D printing and rapid prototyping; and collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate, manufacturable, and revision-controlled designs.

Basic Job Responsibilities:
Create, update, and maintain process sheets, setup sheets, work instructions, and other manufacturing documentation.
Prepare detailed 2D drawings, layouts, and documentation using Creo Parametric.
Develop and modify 3D models, assemblies, components, and tooling designs using Creo.
Manage, release, revise, and retrieve CAD files and related documentation through Windchill PLM.
Ensure drawings and models comply with company standards, manufacturing requirements, and applicable GD&T practices.
Design and develop fixtures, jigs, tooling, and other manufacturing aids.
Support 3D printing activities, including preparing models for printing, creating prototypes, and evaluating printed parts.
Collaborate with manufacturing, process engineering, tooling, quality, and operations teams to resolve design and documentation issues.
Review designs for manufacturability, fit, function, and ease of assembly.
Make engineering changes and maintain accurate revision history in Windchill.
Create and update bills of materials, drawing notes, dimensions, tolerances, and related technical information.
Support continuous-improvement projects by updating CAD models, fixtures, process documentation, and standard work instructions.

Qualifications:
Experience with Creo Parametric for 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
Experience using Windchill or another product lifecycle management system.
Knowledge of mechanical drafting, GD&T, manufacturing documentation, and drawing standards.
Experience with fixture, jig, tooling, or assembly-aid design.
Familiarity with 3D printers and additive-manufacturing processes.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in drafting, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
