Job details

Kelly is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator for a hybrid opportunity with Bausch + Lomb in Bridgewater, NJ. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who understands the fundamentals behind payroll—not simply how to enter information into a system. We’re looking for someone who can confidently review timecards, identify discrepancies, reconcile payroll data, research employee pay issues, and work closely with internal teams and third-party payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.

The position is expected to convert to a permanent Bausch + Lomb employee after approximately 6 months, based on performance and business needs. Upon conversion, compensation can be reevaluated and the position will be eligible for the company’s annual bonus program.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Support and review biweekly payroll processing in partnership with third-party managed payroll service providers

  • Review and audit employee timecards and identify and correct discrepancies before payroll submission

  • Perform payroll reconciliations and validations to ensure payroll data is complete and accurate

  • Reconcile payroll information related to new hires, terminations, employee changes, and leaves of absence

  • Research and resolve employee questions involving pay, deductions, taxes, time reporting, and other payroll matters

  • Monitor payroll communications and provide timely, professional responses to employees and internal stakeholders

  • Maintain a strong understanding of payroll fundamentals, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and time reporting

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation

  • Partner with HR, Benefits, Compensation, Finance, and external payroll providers

  • Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and special projects

  • Work with payroll and HR systems including UKG, ADP, and SuccessFactors

  • Utilize Excel regularly for payroll review, reconciliation, tracking, and reporting

What We’re Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field

  • 3+ years of payroll or payroll administration experience

  • Payroll certification or formal payroll training, such as FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or comparable payroll training

  • Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals and the ability to explain the payroll process

  • Experience reviewing timecards and identifying or correcting payroll discrepancies

  • Experience with or a strong understanding of payroll reconciliation

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Experience using payroll, HRIS, and/or timekeeping systems

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately

  • Willingness and ability to learn new payroll processes and systems

Preferred Experience

Experience with any of the following is highly valued but not required:

  • UKG

  • ADP

  • SAP SuccessFactors

  • Payroll managed services or third-party payroll providers

  • U.S. and Canadian payroll

  • Union and non-union employee populations

  • Exempt and non-exempt payroll

  • Leave-of-absence administration

  • Supporting HR or Finance teams

Canadian and union payroll experience are not required. Candidates with a strong U.S. payroll foundation who are willing and able to learn will be considered.

Schedule & Location

This is a hybrid position based in Bridgewater, NJ.

  • 3 days onsite / 2 days remote each week

  • Monday–Friday

  • Flexible start time between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM

  • Employees have flexibility in selecting their onsite days based on business needs

Compensation & Conversion

  • $30–$35/hour with benefits while working through Kelly (PTO, Health Insurance, etc)

  • Contract-to-hire opportunity

  • Anticipated conversion to permanent employment after approximately 6 months, based on performance and business needs

  • Compensation may be reevaluated upon conversion

  • Annual bonus eligibility after conversion

Who Will Be Successful

The strongest candidate will be someone who can go beyond simply processing transactions and demonstrate an understanding of why payroll numbers are correct or incorrect.

You should be comfortable explaining how you would investigate a payroll discrepancy, review a questionable timecard, reconcile payroll data, respond professionally to an employee concern, and work through an issue when the answer isn’t immediately obvious.

If you have a strong payroll foundation, enjoy problem-solving and reconciliation, and are looking for an opportunity where you can continue developing your payroll expertise, we’d love to hear from you.
