Job details

Summary/Objective: : Inspects molds (mainly sand), sets/inserts cores into the molds, and completes steps to prepare the mold to go to the pouring function Incumbent in position pours heated metal into mold.
Job Responsibilities: Responsible for setting up, assembling cores, clamps, and mud molds and pouring metal into mold using heated ladle.

  • Sets-up, loads, degasses and skims furnaces to melt down various metals ensuring melts are held at specified temperatures

  • Sets up, assembles cores, clamps and muds molds following process specifications

  • Uses heated ladle to pour metal into mold

  • Knocks down solidified molds and moves to appropriate knock out area

  • Inspects the sand cast mold and cleans the edges off as necessary.

  • Sets-inserts all cores into the mold.

  • Blows the set/inserted mold cores out.

  • Blackens the inspected, core(s) inserted and blown out mold with the acetylene torch.

  • Closes the cope and drag after a final inspection.

  • Puts risers on the mold if required.

  • Communicates with next production station (pour off) to coordinate the timing in order to deliver the assembled prepared mold to the Pouring station in a timely manner (pour off requires a pre heating time period).

  • Completes and/or maintains required reports and records

  • Meets quality and quantity standards for the position.

  • Proactively supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline MIS system.

  • Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment and practices good housekeeping.

  • Maintains regular on time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.

  • Maintains a positive professional approach with all internal and external controls.

  • Applies classroom and on the job post training information, knowledge, skills, and abilities consistently in a quality-oriented manner (wherein the KSAs are part of the jobs tasks, duties and other tasks as requested).

  • Performs other tasks as directed

High school diploma or equivalent. 6 months experience in metal casting preferred.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to and including 50 pounds as needed.
Shift: 6am-2:30pm M-F

Pay Rate: $ $16.00-$16.75 per hour DOE
