Position Type: Temp-to-Perm
Starting Pay: $19.00/hour (with growth potential to Utility Solder Levels 2–4)
Job Summary
The Utility Solder Associate (Utility 1) is an entry-level position responsible for learning and performing a variety of soldering operations within the Solder Department. This role involves operating multiple machines, including laser equipment, and supporting production processes while maintaining quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail-oriented, and able to manage changing priorities while meeting production and attendance expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and perform all core functions within the Solder Department
- Operate various production equipment, including soldering and laser machines
- Set up and execute soldering operations as directed by the supervisor
- Accurately follow work instructions, job tickets, and production schedules
- Maintain flexibility to shift tasks and priorities based on business needs
- Meet established production and quality standards
- Adhere to attendance and reliability expectations
Core Duties
- Perform the following operations efficiently:
- Set-up and charge operations
- Pin-stem operations
- Fusion operations
- Dapping operations
- Set-up and charge operations
- Furnace Tender Responsibilities:
- Pick up racks from the set-up bench
- Load furnace in proper sequence, keeping orders separated
- Unload furnace in proper order
- Transfer soldered or annealed work to the next station
- Maintain furnace cleanliness and complete housekeeping tasks
- Pick up racks from the set-up bench
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- Previous soldering experience preferred
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret work orders and job tickets
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Frequent use of hands for tools, equipment, and material handling
- Ability to push, pull, and grasp objects
- Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds
- May require bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching
Work Environment
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions, including heat, dust, and equipment noise
- Work involves repetitive tasks and continuous visual focus
- Must follow all safety protocols, including PPE and standard operating procedures
- Potential exposure to minor workplace hazards
