Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, and Saturday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM

Kelly® is hiring a Heavy-Duty Diesel Truck Mechanic / Lead Technician for a direct opportunity with a growing fleet maintenance operation. This is a great fit for an experienced diesel technician who enjoys advanced diagnostics, hands-on repair work, and leading a team in a busy shop environment.
This operation supports both company assets and carrier partners, with a high volume of work currently in process as the team works through backlog. In this role, you’ll help oversee a team of approximately 7–8 technicians while keeping daily shop operations moving smoothly. What you’ll be doing:
• Leading, mentoring, and supporting approximately 7–8 technicians in a fast-paced shop environment
• Assigning, prioritizing, and monitoring daily work orders
• Performing advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty diesel engines, emissions systems, aftertreatment systems, transmissions, drivetrains, suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, and HVAC
• Using diagnostic software such as Cummins Insite, Detroit DiagnosticLink, Bendix ACom, WABCO, Tech Tool, DAVIE4, and other OEM platforms
• Conducting DOT inspections and ensuring equipment meets compliance standards
• Assisting technicians with complex repairs and escalated technical issues
• Supporting preventive maintenance scheduling to maximize fleet uptime
• Communicating repair status, equipment needs, and downtime impacts with leadership and external customers
• Monitoring parts, fluids, and shop supply inventory
• Reviewing and closing work orders for accuracy in labor, parts, and documentation
• Ensuring safe shop practices, PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and OSHA/DOT compliance
• Supporting reports related to shop KPIs, equipment conditions, productivity, and operational improvements
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have 5+ years of experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic working on Class 7–8 trucks
• Have 3+ years of management, supervisory, senior technician, or lead technician experience
• Have experience leading or supporting a team of technicians in a shop environment
• Have strong knowledge of diesel engines, air systems, electrical diagnostics, and aftertreatment systems
• Are comfortable troubleshooting with OEM diagnostic software
• Have experience assigning work, training technicians, and supporting shop workflow
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Can lift 50+ lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks in a shop environment
• Are safety-focused, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
Preferred qualifications:
• CDL Class A or B
• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications, such as T2, T4, T5, T6, T7, or L2
• Experience with fleet maintenance software such as Fleetrock, TMT, or similar systems
