Job Title: Team Leader
Location: Dubuque, IA (Onsite)
Assignment Length: 16 Months (W2)
Pay Rate: $42.00 per hour
Shift Information: 3rd Shift (10:30pm–6:00am production hours); some Saturday work required; overtime as needed
Work Environment: Onsite in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, supervising unionized production teams.
Visa sponsorship is NOT available, now or in the near future, for this position.
Cross border work is not permitted for this role.
We’re seeking a Team Leader for Backhoe Operations to manage safety, quality, efficiency, and employee engagement for a high-performing team in a unionized production facility.
Position Overview:
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the daily leadership of assigned employees, active driving of safety and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining production quality, and implementing factory goals for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor performance on safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency at both the individual and department level, taking corrective action as needed
- Foster positive employee engagement through regular communication, feedback, and guidance
- Ensure assigned personnel have proper training, work instructions, and tooling
- Lead safety efforts including safety communications, facilitating engagement in the CI process, SERA process, and promoting prompt near-miss reporting with effective follow-up
- Oversee staffing, employee moves, and daily organization of the production line to meet production and warehousing needs
- Supervise production activities to ensure products meet or exceed quality standards
- Drive support for factory goals including 5S implementation, manpower planning, budget adherence, and continuous improvement
Required Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of experience with manufacturing and quality management methods and processes
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, including weekdays and weekends as required
- Excellent communicator skilled at problem-solving and working collaboratively
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions and remain proactive in high-pressure situations
- Proven ability to lead crucial conversations and enforce policies and procedures
- Experience communicating across departments such as supply management, engineering, operations, and HR/labor relations
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience with production control systems (SAP, SharePoint, PowerBI), preferably in a manufacturing setting
- 1+ years in a leadership role in a union environment
- 2+ years of shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay system experience (like CIPP)
- Cross-functional experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Material Control, or Supply Management
- Experience utilizing lean manufacturing techniques to drive improvement
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology, Operations, Business/Management, Supply Management, or equivalent related experience preferred.
