Job Title: MACHINE OPERATOR ASSISTANT
Location: Rumford RI 02916
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday 11:00 PM –7:00 PM
Pay Rate: USD 19.46 per hour
Contract Type: TTH

Job Description:
The Machine Operator Assistant supports the safe and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment by assisting machine operators with machine setup, material handling, quality inspections, and housekeeping. This role helps maintain production schedules and ensures product quality and workplace safety.
Interested candidates should be willing to perform a required employee skills test. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist machine operator with setup, changeovers, and production runs

  • Load and unload raw materials and finished products

  • Monitor product quality and report defects or equipment issues

  • Perform basic quality inspections

  • Remove scrap and keep work area clean and organized

  • Package, label, stack, and prepare finished products for shipment

  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and company policies

  • Support preventative maintenance activities as directed

  • Maintain accurate production and quality records

  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals and minimize downtime

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • 1–2 years minimum experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

  • Ability to read work orders and follow instructions

  • Basic math and measurement skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Manufacturing or corrugated packaging experience preferred

  • Forklift experience (or willingness to become certified)

  • Strong attention to detail, good attendance, reliability, and a positive team-oriented attitude

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk frequently

  • Occasionally sit, reach, climb, crawl, squat, kneel, and bend

  • Frequently handle and finger objects

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Push/pull up to 40 lbs occasionally

  • Work around moving machinery, industrial equipment, and occasionally in outside weather

  • Noise level is usually loud

  • Ability to use PPE (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, etc.)
