Heat Treat Operator – Stanley Black & Decker
Location: Dallas, TX – Farmers Branch/North Dallas Area
Schedule: Monday–Thursday | 2:00 PM–12:30 AM (2nd Shift)
Pay: $19.64 per hour
Job Summary
Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Heat Treat Operator to support manufacturing operations at our Dallas facility. The Heat Treat Operator is responsible for processing parts through heat treatment operations according to production schedules, blueprints, and customer specifications while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heat treat equipment according to production schedules and specifications.
- Start up and operate Endogenerator #1 & #2 and Box Furnace #4 & #5 from a cold start.
- Load parts into assigned furnaces using proper heat treat fixtures, including baskets, screens, and related equipment.
- Perform hardness testing after quenching and tempering processes.
- Adjust belt speed and add oil to quenching tanks as needed.
- Provide proper nitrogen purge to box furnaces #4 & #5.
- Monitor elevator conditions and maintain washer tank operations.
- Control oil elimination in washer tanks and add Serfa Kleen as required.
- Complete production logs accurately with required process information.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work packets, and process requirements.
- Set up furnaces and tanks according to production specifications.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
- Use proper safety practices when working around high-temperature equipment.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- QFO Certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of furnace operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to read and understand work packets, blueprints, and manufacturing instructions.
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic work instructions, correspondence, and production documents.
- Strong mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and use hands throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move 10 lbs regularly and up to 33 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to use vision including peripheral, color, distance, and depth perception.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical equipment, loud noises, fumes, and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to work safely in a high-temperature manufacturing environment.
