Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Machine Fabricator II to cut, machine, and assemble mechanical systems using aluminum extrusion and related components. This hands-on role demands fabrication experience, precision, and a mechanical mindset. You’ll modify parts with manual machining equipment and produce high-quality assemblies from engineering prints.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Cut and prep aluminum extrusions/components to spec using saws and fabrication tools
- Perform precision tapping, drilling, and threading operations
- Modify parts using manual mill equipment (slots, thru holes, counterbores, custom features)
- Deburr, clean, and finish parts per quality standards
- Assemble mechanical systems and subassemblies from engineering drawings and BOMs
- Install hardware, fasteners, bearings, linear rails, and other mechanical components
- Align and adjust assemblies to meet tolerance and functional requirements
- Conduct fit-up checks and troubleshoot misalignments/defects
- Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work instructions
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, squares, etc.
- Maintain accurate job tracking and documentation
- Follow quality control procedures for consistency
- Keep work area clean and organized
- Adhere to all safety procedures and equipment guidelines
- Assist with process improvements and fabrication efficiency initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5+ years of experience in fabrication, machining, or mechanical assembly
- Hands-on experience with aluminum extrusion systems (80/20, Bosch, IPS, RobotUnits, etc.)
- Skilled with manual machining equipment (manual mill, drill press, saws)
- Proficient in tapping, drilling, cutting, and modifying metal parts
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with precision measurement tools
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail—accurate and efficient work required
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Highly proficient computer user
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Lean Manufacturing/5S experience is a plus
