Position Overview
We are seeking a well-organized Production Technician II to accurately and safely assemble electromechanical assemblies while helping improve processes and meeting schedules. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, takes initiative, and enjoys working with both technology and people. Demonstrable experience with electrical and/or mechanical assembly is required.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assemble electromechanical assemblies according to drawings and instructions
- Solder, strip, crimp, splice electrical wires
- Build mechanical subassemblies using various fastening methods
- Torque fasteners to proper spec and sequence
- Route cables and secure wiring throughout systems
- Attach labels or name plates to assemblies, components, or cables
- Measure dimensions to verify proper clearance
- Safely use standard assembly tooling (hex wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters/strippers, torque tools, etc.)
- Use appropriate tooling/fixtures for proper assembly
- Read and understand electrical schematics
- Solder, strip, crimp, splice electrical wires
- Inspect and test subassemblies
- Verify mechanical functionality
- Test electrical continuity with a voltmeter
- Verify mechanical functionality
- Read and understand bill of material structure; escalate errors/discrepancies
- Visually inspect components for flaws/damage; escalate issues as needed
- Assist with tasks such as packaging finished goods, material handling, warehouse cleanup and organization
- Maintain Kelly Services’ commitment to quality and safety
- Keep a clean and safe work environment and participate in the 5S program
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
- Communicate ideas and facts professionally to all stakeholders
- Perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for extended periods; possess manual dexterity for fast, accurate work
- Build cable/wire harness assemblies with wire as small as 26 AWG
- Demonstrate working knowledge of IPC 620
- Basic proficiency in layout, routing, and termination of wires for UL 508A electrical panels
- Manage multiple projects; adapt priorities as needed
- Upload firmware/configure devices per written instructions
- Follow redline process to document as-built changes
- Maintain accurate accounting of project materials and report discrepancies
- Rework/repair equipment and products as instructed
- Participate in development of work instructions, including cutsheets or assembly notes
- Support first article builds with subassembly tasks
- Basic troubleshooting for electromechanical assemblies (motors, cables, panels, assemblies)
- Safely use advanced tooling (power tools, CableEye, etc.)
- Assist with cold checks using schematic for continuity
- Mentor and assist with training of other team members
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong attention to detail with accurate and efficient work skills
- Demonstrated experience in electrical and/or mechanical assembly
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions
- Effective communication skills (oral and written)
- Basic troubleshooting skills for electromechanical systems
- Highly proficient computer user
- Working knowledge of IPC 620 and basic proficiency with UL 508A panels
- Capable of building cable/wire harness assemblies with fine wire
- Self-motivated, willing to improve processes and help train others
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical school or related experience preferred
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing/5S is a plus
