Position Summary

The Machine Operator I is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of simple automated assembly machines used to manufacture medical devices. This role involves operating equipment, responding to machine faults, performing basic machine restarts, and completing repetitive production tasks while maintaining high-quality standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a clean-room environment, and able to learn and operate multiple simple machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate simple automated assembly machines, jigs, and fixtures.
  

• Start machines from a power-off state.
  

• Interpret machine faults, correct problems, and restart equipment.
  

• Perform occasional station and fixture alignments.
  

• Complete work-order setups in electronic batch-record, data-acquisition, and inventory-management systems.
  

• Operate machines at established production rates.
  

• Read and interpret gauges and dials as required.
  

• Complete production records and work-order documentation.
  

• Perform product inspections and testing to ensure quality.
  

• Weigh, count, package, and label finished products.
  

• Keep the work area and equipment clean.
  

• Follow company safety standards, procedures, and operating requirements.
  

• Learn to operate simple machines quickly and effectively.
  

• Demonstrate flexibility when operating multiple simple machines.
  

• Ensure medical devices are assembled according to quality requirements.

Equipment and Machine Information

The machines generally:

• Use press-fit and torque-fit processes.
  

• Have fewer than 10 stations.
  

• Require a low level of operator attention.
  

• Require minimal station and fixture alignment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or employment assessment.
  

• Must be at least 18 years old.
  

• Ability to read and understand procedures.
  

• Ability to follow safety and operating instructions.
  

• Ability to learn and operate simple automated machinery.
  

• Ability to interpret machine faults and take appropriate corrective action.
  

• Ability to perform repetitive production tasks.
  

• Basic computer skills preferred.
  

• Basic experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a clean-room environment.
  

• May work with solvents, glue, or solder.
  

• Must be able to perform visual inspections with and without magnification tools.
  

• May be required to sit or stand for the duration of the shift.
  

• Regularly required to talk and hear.
  

• Must be able to repetitively move and lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
