Utility Worker

Location: Worcester, MA
Pay: $20.50/hour
Schedule: 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
Additional Note: Math assessment required

Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable Utility Worker to support manufacturing operations by safely moving raw materials, inventory, and finished goods throughout the facility. This position primarily operates forklifts and pallet jacks and requires accuracy, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials, products, and cores.

  • Load and unload trucks and deliver materials to production areas.

  • Move finished products to shipping, storage, or the next stage of production.

  • Scan bar codes and maintain inventory records using the QAD computer system.

  • Inspect shipments, verify quantities, check for damage, and report discrepancies.

  • Participate in weekly inventory cycle counts.

  • Prepare rolls and materials for coating and converting machines.

  • Use carousel and core-cut machines as required.

  • Weigh and dispose of scrap bins.

  • Assist with receiving, shipping, and other warehouse activities.

  • Identify and report safety hazards.

  • Follow work orders, safety procedures, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Current forklift or powered industrial truck license.

  • Manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with other departments.

  • Training may take up to three months to become proficient in all job duties.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift and handle materials weighing less than 25 pounds.

  • Occasionally handle or carry materials weighing approximately 50 pounds.

  • Operate equipment to move large and heavy materials weighing up to 2,500 pounds.

  • Frequently stand, walk, push, pull, reach, bend, kneel, and work in tight spaces.

  • Occasionally climb ladders and assist with material-handling tasks.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving equipment and vehicles. Employees may occasionally encounter heat, fumes, airborne dust, and moderate noise. Required personal protective equipment may include safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
