Converting Operator
Location: Worcester, MA
Pay: $22.00/hour
Schedule: 11:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., Monday–Friday
Additional Note: Math assessment required
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable Converting Operator to operate slitting and converting equipment for coated and laminated products. This position prepares materials according to customer specifications, maintains product quality, and follows all safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate converting and slitting machines.
- Load and unload coated or laminated rolls using a hydraulic lift.
- Set machine blades, rewind shafts, speed, tension, and taper.
- Cut cores to specified lengths.
- Feed film through machines while monitoring alignment and tension.
- Follow work orders, process folders, and customer specifications.
- Complete wrapping, labeling, and taping requirements.
- Enter material information into the QAD system.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and use hand tools as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Manufacturing or machine-operation experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to read work instructions and perform basic math calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently after training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and move heavier rolls with assistance.
- Ability to push carts weighing up to 140 pounds.
Work Environment
This is a manufacturing position in a clean-room environment with exposure to moving machinery, moderate to loud noise, heat, fumes, and airborne dust. Required PPE may include gloves, safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks.
