About the role

Support safe, efficient production across mixing and compound blending, screening, and milling operations. You’ll monitor equipment, handle materials, follow work orders, and help ensure products meet customer specifications and established quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Observe production and monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Record operational and production data on specified forms.

  • Move materials, supplies, and products between work areas using moving equipment and hand tools.

  • Visually inspect or handle materials, ingredients, and products to confirm they meet established standards.

  • Follow work orders closely to meet customer specifications and process requirements.

  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and determine when maintenance is needed.

  • Monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure machines are operating properly.

  • Troubleshoot operating errors, determine their causes, and take steps to correct problems.

Mixing and compound blending

Produce master batches for specific work orders by:

  • Accurately measuring specified materials and adding them to mixing equipment.

  • Starting machines and allowing ingredients to mix for the specified time.

  • Transferring finished material into lined buckets or plastic bags and identifying each batch according to procedure.

  • Fully cleaning mixing machines and equipment between jobs.

  • Submitting the required number of properly labeled samples from each batch to QA/QC for testing.

Screening

Remove impurities from mixed material by:

  • Loading preformed material blocks into the screening machine and running the cycle.

  • Monitoring material as it feeds through the screen and cutting it to the desired lengths.

  • Weighing cut pieces and adjusting as needed to meet weight specifications.

  • Wrapping finished pieces in plastic, labeling them correctly, and loading them onto racks.

Milling

Process material through rolling cylinders to mix it and form sheets by:

  • Preparing formulation slabs, identifying them correctly, and submitting them to QA/QC for testing.

  • Weighing materials for the batch size specified on the Mill Room Formula sheet.

  • Feeding material blocks through the rolling cylinders, adding remaining materials, and repeatedly guiding, cutting, and turning the material as it mills.

  • Cutting finished material into thin sheets and placing them on racks for transfer to extrusion.

Qualifications and safety

  • Manufacturing experience is required.

  • Follow work orders, procedures, and established quality standards.

  • Follow Workplace Safety Guidelines and company policies, and wear all required personal protective equipment.
