Benefits of RBT certification

    December 23, 2023

In a school setting, registered behavior technicians (RBTs) support students with a range of behavioral concerns. If a career in pediatric behavioral health interests you, then working alongside Kelly Pediatric Therapy may be a great fit, as it allows you to help students who need additional classroom support to fully access their education.

Qualifications to work as an RBT.

To work as an RBT, you must obtain a certification. This certification is valid for one year, after which you can renew it to maintain your professional qualifications. The RBT certification can serve as the foundation upon which you build your career in behavioral health.

To earn an RBT certification, you must meet the following requirements:

    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Hold a high school diploma
    • Pass a background check
    • Complete 40 hours of training
    • Complete the RBT competency assessment

Some of your work alongside Kelly Pediatric Therapy may count toward supervised fieldwork, which can be used to further your professional development if you are interested in becoming a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) or a board certified assistant behavior analyst (BCaBA).

Work as an RBT in a school-based setting.

If you are passionate about helping students, then an RBT certification will enable you to put that passion into action. Since the minimum age requirement is 18, you can begin working in the behavioral health field straight out of high school.

While being an RBT is a rewarding career in itself, this experience can be invaluable if you decide to pursue further education or certifications in the future. Should you choose to advance your education, consider our fieldwork placement program!

Enter an in-demand profession on your own terms.

Students of all ages can benefit from pull-out or push-in sessions with an RBT. Once certified, you may find yourself in high demand at various local schools in your area.

You can apply to work with Kelly Pediatric Therapy in schools across our partnering districts and help children maximize their educational experiences. Therapists who partner with us have control over the opportunities they accept and build their own schedule.

    Help students access their education.

The most significant benefit of an RBT certification is the opportunity it provides to help children. School-based RBTs assist students who need additional support by implementing treatment plans created by a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA).

Each day offers you the chance to collaborate with other members of the students’ IEP (Individualized Education Program) teams across disciplines. We utilize a whole-child approach that incorporates multidisciplinary solutions to provide students with the support they need to grow and succeed in the classroom.

Make a difference as an RBT in a school-based setting.

Working as an RBT in a school can significantly impact the educational success of students. If you want to play a role in ensuring students fully access their education, apply to work alongside Kelly Pediatric Therapy as a pediatric RBT.
