Therapy Provider Spotlight - Lauren Bukowski

Since May of 2020, Lauren Bukowski has been part of our network as an occupational therapist at Lindley Academy Charter School.

She shared with us how she got started, what she loves most about school-based pediatric occupational therapy, and her advice for others considering this rewarding role.

What inspired you to be a therapist?

Occupational Therapy stood out to me because it focuses on helping people live lives to the fullest. I've always been drawn to growth and supporting others as they gain skills to feel more confident in their everyday routines. I appreciate that OT looks at the whole person and centers on what is considered meaningful. Over time too, I found that supporting children during early years of development was especially impactful. Since childhood is such a foundational stage, the skills built during shape confidence and long-term independence. Which is very meaningful to me.

What do you like about being a school-based therapist?

School based therapy is especially rewarding because I get to support students within their natural environment. I am able to watch them grow in confidence and skills, even through the smallest gains. It just makes such a lasting difference in how they see themselves.

What do you like about working with Kelly Pediatric Therapy?

I enjoy working with PTS because of the flexibility and support they provide. The flexibility allows me to balance my professional responsibilities effectively while staying present for the students I serve. I also appreciate their responsiveness and collaborative approach they have always provided; it really helps to feel supported as a clinician.
