Direct Hire 1st shift CNC Laser Start-Up Technician
Location: Farmington, CT
Pay: $27.00 to $38+ per hour based on experience 
Hours:  7:00am – 3:30pm (Monday–Friday + OT as needed)

Position Overview

KELLY is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Start-Up Technician to perform wiring, assembly support, and system testing of high-precision laser cutting machines. This role ensures both electrical and mechanical functionality meet strict quality standards. The ideal candidate is self-driven, eager to learn, and thrives in a high-tech manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and mechanical start-up checks on laser cutting machines

  • Wire, test, and validate machine systems to ensure full functionality and quality compliance

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

  • Prepare approved machines and systems for final testing and shipment

  • Conduct quality inspections and ensure all test results meet required tolerances

  • Support startup of disk and fiber laser systems to ensure cutting performance meets standards

  • Maintain clean, organized work areas following 5S principles

  • Document quality results and complete required reports accurately

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CIP) and SYNCHRO initiatives

  • Stay current with engineering changes, updates (ECNs), and technical revisions

  • Follow all safety procedures and company standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in machine assembly, start-up, or related manufacturing role

  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings

  • Experience working with both high and low voltage systems

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with machine tools and industrial equipment

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong documentation and communication skills

Education

  • Associate degree in Electronics or Mechatronics required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
