Position Overview
We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Production Technician I skilled in assembling electromechanical products. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with strong attention to detail and hands-on experience with electrical and/or mechanical assemblies who want to grow within our team.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Accurately and safely assemble electromechanical assemblies in accordance with drawings, work instructions, and verbal directions
- Solder, strip, crimp, and splice electrical wires
- Build mechanical subassemblies using various fastening methods
- Torque fasteners to specifications and sequences
- Route and secure cabling, attach labels/plates
- Measure components for proper clearance
- Use standard assembly tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, cutters, strippers, torque tools, etc.)
- Use assembly fixtures and read/understand electrical schematics
- Solder, strip, crimp, and splice electrical wires
- Inspect/test assemblies:
- Verify mechanical functionality
- Perform electrical continuity tests with a voltmeter
- Verify mechanical functionality
- Read and understand bill of materials; escalate errors/discrepancies
- Visually inspect for flaws/damage and escalate issues as appropriate
- Assist with packaging, material handling/kitting, warehouse organization, and cleanup
- Uphold Kelly Services’ commitment to quality, safety, and participation in 5S/continuous improvement
- Communicate ideas/facts professionally to all team members
- Perform repetitive tasks and sit/stand for extended periods; maintain manual dexterity for precise builds
- Proficiently build cable/wire harness assemblies with wire as small as 26 AWG
- Demonstrate knowledge of IPC 620; basic proficiency with UL 508A panel wiring/layout
- Manage more than one project and adapt to changing priorities
- Upload firmware/configure devices per written instructions
- Document as-built changes in line with redline process
- Accurately track project materials and report discrepancies
- Rework/repair products as needed
- Participate in writing/creating simple work instructions, cutsheets, assembly notes
- Support first article builds and perform basic troubleshooting for assemblies (motors, cables, panels)
- Safely use advanced tools (e.g., power tools, CableEye)
- Assist with basic cold checks/continuity checks using schematics
- Mentor/train less experienced associates
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Additional technical school/training/certifications a plus
- 1–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with electromechanical devices or panels preferred
- Demonstrated IPC 620 knowledge or training highly preferred
- Computer proficient
- Able to follow written/verbal instructions
- Self-motivated, cooperative, and a team player
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
